Temperament & Personality Testing

Temperament Observation & Placement Guidance

Each puppy develops differently, which is why we spend time observing behavioral tendencies rather than relying on appearance or first impressions alone. During evaluations, we look at traits such as recovery after stress, environmental confidence, human engagement, adaptability, motivation level, touch tolerance, and resilience.

Our evaluations are designed to help families make more informed placement decisions based on lifestyle compatibility rather than color, coat pattern, or momentary behavior.

Raising confident puppies for lifelong success

Building a Foundation of Trust and Confidence

At Lolli’s Bernedoodles, we do not believe families should choose a puppy based only on color, gender, or which puppy runs up first. Those details can be exciting, but they do not tell the full story of who a puppy is or what type of home will help that puppy thrive.

As our puppies grow, we observe their confidence, curiosity, human focus, energy level, motivation, sensitivity, and ability to recover from new experiences. These observations help us guide families toward the puppy that best fits their lifestyle.

At approximately seven weeks of age, puppies are evaluated using the Badass Breeder Aptitude Test and Puppy Evaluation process. This gives us a clearer picture of each puppy’s strengths, tendencies, and needs before final placement decisions are made.

Our goal is not just to help you choose the cutest puppy. Our goal is to help you welcome the puppy that is most likely to succeed in your home.

Families across Florida choose Lolli’s Bernedoodles because we deliver more than just a puppy—we provide a well-prepared companion. From temperament testing to structured early learning, every step we take is designed to give your family a confident, loving pet.

We raise our puppies using the BAB curriculum, socializing them with children, adults, and daily household sounds. Health is a priority, with each puppy receiving preventative vet care and support backed by our Health Guarantee.

Our puppies are raised in our home—not in kennels—so they grow up accustomed to family life, making the transition into your home easier and more natural. Families love our transparency, hands-on approach, and commitment to producing dogs that are not only healthy but ready to become loving, lifelong companions.

Revealing each puppy’s unique personality

The Evaluation Process

When our puppies reach 7 weeks old, they undergo a formal evaluation. This specific window is the "golden age" for temperament testing, as it provides the most accurate glimpse into a puppy's adult personality before they are influenced by their new home environment.

The 12 Key Traits We Assess

During the BAB Aptitude Test, each puppy is scored on several critical traits to help you understand their natural "blueprint":

Person with outstretched arm, next to a dog sitting.

Assertiveness

How bossy or submissive the puppy is with people.

Black paw print on a white background.

Confidence

The puppy’s belief in themselves and their approach to new situations.

Target with arrow in bullseye.

Motivation Level

Their intrinsic desire to work for and with a human.

Black heart with a white heartbeat line within.

Nerve Strength / Resiliency

Their ability to handle and bounce back from stress.

Person kneeling, petting dog.

Touch Tolerance

How compliant and comfortable they are with physical handling.

Silhouette of a dog mid-leap, with a raised tail, against a white background.

Energy Level

Their natural pace, from "couch potato" to high-intensity athlete.

Black speaker icon, indicating audio.

Sound Sensitivity

Their physical reaction to sudden or loud noises.

Black and white eye icon.

Sight Sensitivity

Their reaction to moving objects or new visual stimuli.

Dog silhouette in a target, symbol for pet hunting or targeting.

Prey Drive

Their natural instinct to notice and chase moving objects.

Person walking a dog on a leash.

Human Focus

Their desire to be near people and stay engaged with them.

Black heart with two white paw prints.

Tenderheartedness

How much the puppy is affected by human emotions or surroundings.

Person training two dogs.

Dog Friendliness

Their natural social comfort and interaction with other dogs.

Testimonials

Happy Families. Happy Puppies.

We had such a wonderful experience with Lolli’s Bernedoodles from start to finish! Communication was excellent—prompt, thoughtful, and always helpful. When we went to meet our puppy Frankie in person, we could immediately tell how much love and care went into raising these pups. The whole family was so kind and welcoming, and it was clear that they genuinely care about the well-being of their dogs.

We even got to meet the momma dog, and she was absolutely adorable—sweet, calm, and so well-behaved. It gave us such peace of mind seeing the environment Frankie came from. He’s been doing amazing since coming home and has brought so much joy into our lives. We couldn’t be happier and are so grateful to have found Lolli’s Bernedoodles. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a well-raised, loving new family member!

Working with this breeder was an incredible experience from start to finish. They were not only easy to communicate with, but they showed genuine care and dedication to placing their puppies with the right families. It was clear from the beginning that their top priority was finding a loving, responsible home—not just making a sale.

They were incredibly knowledgeable and as first-time Bernadoodle owner, Ifelt so supported—everything from food tips to training advice was provided, along with well-organized documents.

They kept in touch after we brought Ash (now Blu) home and made sure the transition was going smoothly. Blu is healthy, happy, and clearly came from a loving, well-socialized environment. Highly recommend—especially for first-time dog owners!

I had a wonderful experience with this breeder. From the beginning, they were responsible, transparent, and incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. They answered every question with patience and made sure I felt confident and prepared. The puppy I received is healthy, joyful, active, and exceptionally smart — a true reflection of the care and dedication this breeder puts into their dogs. I'm beyond grateful and would recommend them without hesitation.
